This module allows the student to get an objective evaluation of his/her chances of admission to selective and highly selective colleges using our Personal Assessment and College Admissions Profile (CAP). The CAP Index, is a proprietary and strictly quantitative measurement of a student’s competitive position for admission at the 431 colleges in our data base. It has proven to be highly accurate in assessing the academic credentials to be evaluated for admission
Also included:
- review of 11th Grade PSAT (or diagnostic ACT or SAT) to determine the best test strategy,
- review of Myers-Briggs or Do What You Are assessment,
- thorough evaluation of the high school transcript and extracurricular activities,
- calculation of “college gpa” based on core courses and curriculum strength
- a tool to clarify and quantify the family priorities for college selection
- extended discussion of the family priorities from exercise above
- an evaluation of merit scholarship eligibility
- identify 18-24+ colleges that
→ “fit” the qualitative criteria identified in the family priorities exercise
→ “fit” the quantitative criteria included in our College Admissions Profile Index
→ conform to any financial boundary conditions specified by the family (see note below)
- extensive counseling to assist the student with researching the colleges using college websites, other internet resources, and commercial guides in order to start refining the list to 8-12 preferred schools for which visits will be arranged
- visit and interview coaching – visiting a college campus is essential for a student to get a sense of what it would be like to attend that school, so we coach students on preparing for visits and interviews and cultivating the required “demonstrated interest”
→ in-depth counseling about the “5 Must Do” activities when visiting a campus and the essentials of meeting with regional admissions officers, faculty, department heads, and coaches
→ guidance on attending college fairs and “open houses”
→ preparing for interviews is emphasized through our “Interview Guide” and a mock interview with one of our professional staff.
- College Evaluation Checklist which provides an opportunity to quantify observations and interactions about each college and make meaningful comparisons among them.
- After at least four visits to college campuses, we meet to discuss observations and further refine the college list and/or college search criteria if necessary and assist with defining the final college list.
Cost: $1,995 – prepaid
Typical time to complete: 3 months depending on start time
Module is finished when: Final list has been determined
Simply put, we generate a list of colleges at which the student has a reasonable chance for admission, that fit the family’s financial criteria, and are good “fits” for the student’s identified priorities.
